I have two totally different computer setups with onboard video that the
systems lock up and the graphics on the screen appear like the horizontal
sync goes out on them.
Both systems run Windows XP Pro SP2.
One is a dell system with 2 256MB DDR Ram modules with onboard video.
The second system has an Asus A8N-VM motherboard with 2- 1GB DDR memory and
onboard video.
Both systems have the same symptoms when running with 2 DDR modules installed.
The Dell is only used for Office applications while the other uses more
graphic intense software (games). With the two memory modules in the Dell
the system will lock and the display goes crazy when opening various folder
shortcuts on the desktop, the other system occassionaly does the same thing
only when playing memory intense games.
If one of the memory modules is removed the lock ups happen less frequently.
It hasn't locked up for two days on the Dell.
Does Win XPSP2 have problems controlling the memory with onboard graphics
that share system RAM?
