Video files slow my computer down, and cannot be moved

Help!

I am having trouble with large video files (600 megs plus) on my computer.
When I try to drag and drop them to another folder, I get the message 'its
is being used by another program or person'. When I cut and paste them they
normally behave as they should, though occasionally I get a file that
refuses to be moved at all.

When I click on them to watch them, get properties, move them etc. they slow
the machine down and there is heavy hard disk usage.

Can anyone help me? Any suggestions welcome,

Hi Daniel,

Open the media player, remove the file from the playlist. Then close it and
retry moving the files.

Do you have thumbnails enabled in the folders that you are trying to move
from/to? Often the thumbnail process is the culprit for keeping hold of
files.

It didn't occur to me that the media player would be the cause of the
problem! I tried removing the playlist but it had no effect. I decided to
try the nuclear approach and uninstalled Realoneplayer, and lo and behold I
could move the file around. I still have windows media player, so I can
access my video files OK.

I'm not sure, but it could be that Realplayer was the culprit. I won't know
until I've given it a more thorough test, but thanks for your help - it was
invaluable!
