video conferencing

I have just started to use video conferencing with Messenger 6.1. It works
but there are some minor problems:-

1. There is a delay between the sound and the video.
2. The sound often cuts out momentarily.
3. The video often freezes for a second or two.

I suspect these problems may be to do with bandwidth. Both parties are
using a 500k broadband connection and Logitech webcams (with the mic built
in).

Is there any way of improving things?

One thing is to NOT USE the built in mic, get a normal mic for the store $15
and plug into the sound card and make sure that is what is selected when you
run the Wizard.
