Video Clips in Powerpoint

I have a video clip that I want to insert into Powerpoint. It will run fine
in QuickTime, but not in Windows Media Player. WMP says that I need a codec
that it cannot find and tells me to go search the internet for it... Fine,
but when I do, I just get website that have instructions for programming and
a lot of other things that I can't do... When I change the file name of my
clip to .avi, it doesn't work, Powerpoint won't insert it. Is there a quick
way that I can fix things? I don't really need a lot of complicated things
going on, I just need this simple video clip to work... HELP!

If you have QuickTime Pro you can export the video as an
avi. Then follow the insert process.

If not, go to Slide Show > Action Buttons. Create an
action button using the tools offered. After drawing your
button a dialog box will appear. Set your Action Settings
or Hyperlink your new button to your quicktime video.
The movie will play within the QuickTime skin on your PPT
slide.

This method does not (nor does any method) embedd the
video so you should save your PPT and Video in a new
folder before you create the link. If necessary to move
the file, move the entire folder, not just the PPT.

the file extension is .mov I got the file by shooting it with my digital
camera, a Nikon coolpix 5000, and I am running PPT XP.

PowerPoint doesn't support QuickTime formats above version 2. You'll probably
need to convert the MOV to AVI or MPG or WMV. You can't just change a file's
extension. I suspect that you'll need to use google and search for "MOV to AVI"
(without the quotes) to find a program that will do this.

What Sonia said.

Just wanted to add that I believe QuickTime Pro (about $25) will allow you
to convert from MOV to AVI.
