video clip playback slow to show

I insert video clips (MPEG) into ppt. whenever I click to show the video, its
shows fine on the laptop. However, the LCD projector seems to lose the signal
for 1-2 seconds and then the clip shows. The sound has started, but the
audience misses the first 1-2 seconds of video. This happens on at least two
different brands of projector.

You might try toggling so that the image plays only on the projector and not
on both the laptop and the projector. See

Not positive that will work, but it's worth a try.

See if forcing the video signal to go to the projector only helps:

Laptop:Use your "FN" key, lower left corner plus whichever "F" key at the
top
switches your video signal. Often it's F5 or F7. It'll often have a diagram
indicating two computer screens, and varies among manufacturers.

If using a standalone computer I've read that turning off "Hardware
Acceleration" in Display properties may help;I've never had that happen.
