VIDEO CARD?

When my xp stands by- the screen gets dark and I can't
make out anything...is this a video card prob? It's only 1

That's what the Standby option is supposed to do. It puts the
monitor and other system components in low power or sleep mode
depending on your system hardware.

Don't use Standby - instead use your Screen Saver.
