Video card

Currently, I am using NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 for my computer. I just
bought a monitor that is equipped with DVI input. Can someone suggest a
suitable video card that support DVI output and 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 768
resolution.

Thanks,

Ray

I'd love to, but you've left out the most important part.... what is your
budget?

Do you want a PCI graphics card, a PCI-E or an AGP card? What do you
generally do on your PC... a lot of graphics, just general use, watch DVDs
etc?

If you're budget limited, the FX5700 or FX5900 nVidia cards are good prices
and have a very acceptable picture quality.

If you're after a high end card, your budget should be in the region of
$400-500 and you're probably looking at something in the 6800 range from
nVidia.

Cari,

Thanks for your advice.

I am just a power user and seldom do any graphics. Primarily, I use my
computer for normal Office 2003 work and edit some movie captured by digital
camera and DV camcorder. My monitor is Philips 23" lcd tv with native
resolution of 1280 x 768 so I believe high end graphic card may not be
necessary and/or useless. However, I notice marked improvement between
analog input and digital input especially the colour convergence. I have no
idea about PCI, PCI-E or AGP. My computer is about 3 year ago running
Pentium 4 1.8 GHz. I don't I have PCI-E bus on my PC and have no idea the
right price for a video card. What is price for FX5700 nVidia (is it the
brand of card or the brand of chipset?)? Is it fit for my purpose?

Thanks,

Ray

These are nearly all AGP....

For my main desktop, I use a Pixelview FX5700 with 256mb RAM and do a fair
amount of digital editing... the O/S is MCE2005... I chose that particular
card because it also has VIVO capability which is useful for capturing from
a VHS machine that sits next to the PC. I've never had a problem with it.
I don't do high end graphics (unless I really have to).... and it seems to
be a great card. It's about the right price range for me as well.

Some of the reasons I like NewEgg.... they ship very quickly and I've never
had an incorrectly filled order... and I like to see reviews from 'real'
buyers.
