video card problem?

I have an HP 2800 AMD Athlon with a Geforce FX 5500 vodeo card. Until about
4 day ago everything was ok. Now everytime i run game software ( Call of
Duty & Rollercoaster Tycoon) the computer freezes for up to 20 sec b4 coming
back. Sometime the damn thing has 2 be restarted. I have downloaded an
updated driver from the Nvidia web site. That didn't work. I tried system
restore, and decelerated the speed of the card, nothing works. Does anyone
have the answer?
It would be much appreciated

Hardware web site would be more appropriate.

I know little re gaming but for info on products/performance I do watch one
forum - the general advice and this goes for flight simulation as well, is
to roll back to the previous driver.
It cant hurt and may solve the problem.
If no solution found here, then contact nVidia - very helpful site they
have, from my experience.
Have you been to the msnews.gaming group - though I believe you are using
the web based group, at the moment.
Someone will no doubt advise you how better these newsgroups are.

My guess would be either a video card problem, (such as the video card may
be dying or it may be overheating) or the problem could be that the power
supply is failing. Try another video card if you have one and see if the
computer continues to freeze. If it does, then chances are that you have a
power supply problem. If you've been doing overclocking to your computer in
the past few days, and you overclocked to far, this may be the problem too.
I've overclocked a CPU before and it made the game freeze up, so I had to
bring it down some.
