Video Card Driver Updates in XP Pro

F

Fred

I currently have an nVidia TNT2 M64 Pro video card, but
the drivers are pretty old. I was surfing the nVidia site
to find newer ones. I did find a new driver, but it
wasn't WHQL certified for my card only...but they say it
would run.

Looking at the archive of drivers, i get the feeling that
they are targeted more for the newer cards (GeForce,
nForce, etc...) and not my older video card.

Do these newer drivers cause system performance issues for
older cards? Also, are there any good sites out there
that have lots of information about video cards?

I have no experience with that particular driver but I've updated many
(many) video drivers. If they say it should work then usually it will.

But to be safe, you have a copy of your current driver on CD, right?
Makes it easy to backtrack if you do (because sometimes Windows System
Restore doesn't work as advertised).

Regarding the second question, if the driver does work with your card,
then it will probably improve its performance.
