video capture device ???

I have recently installed a TV tuner card. (ATV TV Wonder Pro), and I am
wondering if it can be used for a video capture card. What I would like to
do is play a DVD in my PC and make part of it a Windows Media file. I know
that to do this type of thing you need a video capture card, and I was
wondering if this TV tuner card can do this also.

When I bring up Windows Moviemaker it shows the ATV TV Wonder Pro as a
video capture device, but when I play the DVD, it does not pick it up. The
TV tuner card works fine for viewing TV programs.

The manufacturer's website does not say anything about this issue, one way
or the other. Am I missing something, or do I simply need another card?

Thanks

You do not need a video capture card to capture something from a DVD. The
information on the DVD is already in a digital format. What you do need is
software which can effectively rip the dvd.
If this is a commercial DVD then most likely it is using a copy protection
schem meaning most available software will not be able to rip the DVD. \
