Very Suspicious

I had a friend fix my pc and he took it home with him! We
later had a conversation that alarmed me, he said (in so
many words) that he is able to look at files on my pc!
My question is.......is there a way he could've put a
programme or set something so as to see my files?

I am very new to computing and the net I don't have a
clue as to how to check or even what to check for!

I would be very greatfull for any help given!

Sylvia....)

Hi Silvia,

well, .... if you let a friend take your computer home with him to fix it,
I guess he could not very well do that without seeing files on your PC. And
I don't think he would need to install any special program to do that. His
remark though points to him looking at private files [not required as far as
I know to fix a computer]. And I guess, he could install whatever he wants
to, if he has physical access to your PC and has Administrator rights, which
he would need to fix anything probably.

What operating system, XP?, What file system, NTFS?

My advice would be, as long as you don't know much about computers and rely
on friends to fix problems, choose these friends very carefully and do not
keep anything real private on your PC. Also better to let them do it in your
home, while looking over their shoulder, even if you don't understand what
they are doing [They can't be sure, what you understand ;-)]. Consider
getting some encryption software like PGP for private stuff, or at least
save it to some other media, like floppy, zip, CD and keep these in a safe
place.

Markus;
Her friend does not need any Trojan to access her computer, once the
computer is in *his* possession!
