Fred
I found a file on my desktop this morning named "~" with
no extension or anything, just a tilde character. It
contains all the contacts in my various OE6 address books
and strings of indecipherable characters.
Seems to be the output of some kind of emailing trojan or
virus. I don't expect any miracles, just wanted to see if
anybody had any leads or even heard of this symptom.
Running XP Pro SP1
DirecWay satellite broadband connection.
Have been current on XP updates since purchasing the
computer 11/02.
Current Norton AV with regular updates and weekly full-
scan.
I've run AdAware and the last 15+ removal tools at
Symantec's security response. No results.
My HiJackThis log is squeaky clean.
Should I just reformat or is there something else I can
check first?
Thanks for any input, it is highly appreciated.
