Trojan Horse Invasion!

How do I eliminate a trojan horse program form my PC which is causing all sorts of problems.
I have up to date AVG software and all available Windows XP updates. i have a broadband connection and firewall protection(zonealarm). AVG will NOT identify, or remove it despite a message telling me to run AVG to do so!!

A message keeps appearing on boot stating that "Windows cannot find C;\Windows\System32\pwr32ctr.exe. Is this linked to the effects of the 'trojan'?

Also after difficulty in booting I just get a message saying this System has recovered rom a serious error, which to me is meaningless.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. It is a miracle I was able to reach this newsgroup in the first place!

Thanks,
Mark

yeah, i have the same exact problem! My computer will
reboot about two to three times, and then say the system
has recovered from a serious problem. I even sent the
error report, and all i got back was something telling me
there wasn't and information available. It's really
annoying me.
