Strange ?

I have been receiving anything from ten to twenty e-mails a day containing
virus attachments for months now. Naturally I don't open them and my AV
program always warns me of them.
Usually they are NetSky variations. Suddenly they have stopped for the last
seven days, although I have not installed any other AV or different firewall
etc.
Wonder if other people have the same experience.
I use OE6- Adaware- Kerio Firewall- Spywareblaster And AVG6.
Just Wondered.

It's interesting that you say that. I've had the exact same experience. I
had just assumed that my ISP tweaked their filters, but now I'm thinking
something more substantial may have taken place. What that 'something
substantial' is, I don't know...but I'm aliken' it.

I use WinXP, OE6, McAfee 8, WinXP Firewall plus McAfee Firewall, AdAware,
Spybot S&D 1.3, and WinPatrol.

Same here too.
Only 5 Netsky and 12 Spams in 6 days. Makes me wonder. Let's hope it's
not the gathering of forces ;)

Vic, my experience is that someone with my email address in their address
book removed their virus and that's why Netsky stopped coming. I can
actually name the four folks that had Netsky because they called me for help
when they realized how slow it was making their computers. When I looked at
their systems they were all infected. My virus traffic went to zero after I
fixed the last one.

Thanks for that information John. Well worth looking into.
Since my original post, I have received four of these mails in seven days
but this is nothing compared with my usual average of about eighty a week.
Kind regards.

Not so strange. Zombies were taken down and/or isolated,
that's all. Too many ISPs don't care and just ignore the
problem. Like, uhh, Comcast for example.
