Hello All,
Have fitted a Vantec 3-fan PSU and a Zalman CNPS7700 CPU cooler to my AMD 3400, Asrock K8NF4G PC. The PSU was no problem and runs so slow that SpeedFan does not detect it. The cooler was a pig to fit - MB out and ended up with cooling fins 1mm from the PSU, but it went in.
The cooler has Fan Mate 2 included which allows me to vary the fan speed from 965 to 1800 rpm. With 100pc CPU usage and at either end the temperatures detected by Speedfan do not show more than one or two degC difference. At 965rpm the PC is very quiet and I am very happy!
Just curious - does anyone know where the detectors are?
I guess 'core' is the CPU and 'HD0' is the hard drive, but where are 'Temps 1,2 and 3?
Thanks in advance,
peahouse05:)

Depends on what sensors SpeedFan detects ... generally;

Temp 1 is the case temperature.
Temp 2 is the cpu temperature.
Temp 3 is the chipset temperature.
HD0 is the hard drive temperature.

Though, you can switch them around if SF got it wrong. :D

Everest HE, if you can find it. ;)

Thanks Mucks,
Temps are really stable and lots of air coming out of the case. Tempted to use SpeedFan to reduce the cpu fan speed even further and see what happens to the temps.
Cheers,

NO!

I'll send you some ear-muffs.

SpeedFan can do that, it is a very powerful little program ... but I would not recommend you "experiment" its power on the CPU ... unless you have spare cash for a new one. ;)

Hello Floppybootstomp,
At 100pc cpu usage max temps do not vary much between CPU fan speed of 964 and 1795 rpm. Typically, Temp 1 33, Temp 2 40, temp 3 38, HD0 37 and Core 39.
I assume this is ok.

It's very good indeed, especially if it's quiet :)

I'd heed Mucks' advice and not instruct speedfan to control fan speed.

You have a quiet PC, working 100% CPU and with CPU temp of no more than 40C.

Don't tempt providence and let sleeping dogs lie ;)

However, if you really have the itch to experiment, don't let CPU temp exceed 50C.

Thanks Mucks,
I'm happy! The loudest noise is the HD purring away, cannot hear the psu fans and the cpu fan is gentle with a cool waft over my legs.

Hello Mucks,
This Zalman cooler looks so good, will send pics to Gallery, and after your reply, not prat around with any lower fan speeds.
Cheers,

Reached my limit here I think.
Good fun,
