Very confused about Frontpage extensions and Sharepoint

We would like to host Frontpage extensions using Apache, however we've been
told that Microsoft will no longer support future versions of Apache.
Therefore we need to support it on Windows. Question is do we need Frontpage
extensions, if we are only going to support FP 2003 clients? Can we just use
Sharepoint services? What functionality do we lose or get? I've been to
different sites on Microsoft, some suggest you no longer need FP extensions
while others say you do.

As I said we'd prefer Apache for our environment, but if we have to go to
Windows to support this one service can we just use Sharepoint services?

Thanks,

It really depends on what features of FP that requires the FP extensions that you current use or
would like to be using in the future that will not be available under Windows Sharepoint Services,
which is only available under Windows 2003 Server. Only you can determine this.

So, is the second link I provided still valid? Would that help me determine
what features run under each configuration or is there a more recent
functionality path? Since Sharepoint Team services no longer exists in that
form, did that colum of functionaility not merge with Windows Sharepoint
services? If not, the options are back to running with FP 2002 extensions
which appeared to be more parellel with STS or losing some of that
functionality with Windows Sharepoint services.

Is that right?

Thanks,

Jeremy
