Verticle lines mysteriously appearing in text

I am useing Word 2002 with all of the updates installed.

When I type in all CAPs, using the shift key, I will at various points
in the text get vertical lines inserted between random characters.

Does anyone have any idea why this could happen and how to resolve it?

Maybe your PC is telling you to stop shouting But more likely it is a
limitation of the screen driver. See if there's a driver update and/or
increase the screen display colour density.
