bliniking insertion point

How come on some computers, the insertion point in Word is a blinking
verticle line and on my computer, it appears as a plain verticle line at
times and then disappears at times. This causes me to not be able to figure
out where it is.

Does this have to do with the version of Word I am using or is it a
customizable option?

Thanks,
Wendy

This is more likely a result of how your graphics card driver is interfacing
with Word. You could try updating it, from the manufacturer's website. Or you
could try lowering your hardware acceleration in Windows.

Hi Wendy,

In addition to Cindy's suggestions it might be worth checking the "Cursor
blink rate" setting. On my Win XP PC this is under Start/Settings/Control
Panel/Keyboard and it's at the bottom of the Speed tab.

If I set that to None the vertical line disappears when I start typing.

Regards.
