I get Version 6.0.6000 in my RTM version from MSDN.

Good idea. 6.1 at the very least. Even then you might want to keep XP on a
second partition.
 
What is the version # for Vista from the 'Command Prompt'?

Service Pack 1 is rumored to be out near the end of the year coinciding with
the release of Longhorn Server.
