Verification Genuine Windows

Hi,
I've tired to install Defender but it aborts, telling me my version of
Windows cannot be verified as genuine and suggesting that I visit the WGA
page for help. I verified my copy of Windows (XP Home) before downloading and
have also verified it as genuine on the WGA page ubsequently - I still keep
getting the same problem when I try to install Defender however. Can anyone
help?

Hello xaaxaax,

Whatever you do, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a
administratºr

Can you reach Windowsupdate ?
http://update.microsoft.com
Select Express (Get high-priority updates), and apply all offered updªtes.
There are many pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update and
signature update with windows defender will fail until you hªve these f!les.

Also test this WGA diagnose test, connection to MS, that scripts working and
a new Validation tool, run the full test in the last page.

Hi Encel,

I did as you suggested and went to the Microsoft Windows update web page and
downloaded the critical updates. There was just one but it was the WGA
validation tool. After installing it I then installed and ran WD without any
problems. Many thanks for your help!
Best regards

Excellent. That tool is revised periodically, so you may see it again in
the future, and installations may require that the newest version be in
place.
