Okay, the site says that there's a diagram gallery that easily helps you
create a venn diagram - that's in powerpoint 2002 :( Does anyone know how to
create on in ppt2000?

Creating a venn diagram is much easier in PowerPoint 2002 and 2003 -
basically creating a venn diagram in older versions is easy too as long as
you have three or four overlapping spheres - it's only when you have more
spheres that PowerPoint's new diagramming capabilities help. Also, the new
diagramming tool allows you to change the venn diagram to a pyramid or
target with one click.

You can download a 30 day trial version of Office Standard including
PowerPoint from:

If you need shading in the Venn's overlaps, I'd say your best bet is to
create the Venn in an image editing program, save out as PNG, and then use
Insert/Picture/From File to insert the PNG onto the slide.

I say this because PPT 2000 doesn't really have good transparency settings,
and that's what you need in order to make a halfway decent Venn diagram.

True. But if you're looking for a few minutes cheap yuks, you can get some
really butt-ugly Venns-the-cat-dragged-home by drawing the first two circles,
setting the second of them to xparent. Then select both, copy, then paste
special, as PNG. Then add another circle and make it xparent, then repeat the
copy/paste as PNG.

Wo. Moiravian Art. Even Peter Max could lose lunch over this.

Here's how I do it for 3-way Venn diagrams in PowerPoint 2K, to I think,
good effect.

I use regular hexagons for the circles. The 3-way intersection is an
over-laid smaller regular hexagon.

The 2-way intersections are very carefully over-laid block arrows (Right
Column, 5th from the top.) I had to rotate two of them.

Using Blue, Red and Yellow hexagons, you can make orange, green and
purple arrows/intersections, and the middle intersection whatever color
you choose. Fussy, but you have complete control.

Each set and intersection gets its own color for each is its own
autoshape. The end result is good-looking and modern.

Good Luck,
Hash

Ah, good idea. I hadn't thought of that.
