Hello everyon

We are having a few problems with our PC. When we click 'search' the computer locks up, this lasts for about 10 mins, unless we press re-start, everything else seems to be working ok, also a window pop's up stating we have VBS Freelink virus

Any idea

JULE

PS running Win XP pro, and AOL 8( which is running very slow).

Install an antivirus (I recommend McAfee or Norton) and
run the live update then perform a full system scan. If
you have a network you will need to install and run an AV
on any other computers as well.

What do you do when the window pops up telling you that you have a virus?
Get rid of that worm, then assess and address the remaining problems.

More info on vbs.freelink at these sites:
http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virus.aspx?ID=9014
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/vbs.freelink.html

Since viruses and worms can cause a myriad of side effects, it is best to
get those cleared up first. Their removal may cause many other current
problems to disappear.

Also be aware that *not* taking immediate action on prompts about a virus
or a worm leaves your system in a serious risk position. Many worms include
dropper viruses that can cause extensive damage to data, program files and
system files. Also, in this case, the worm floods the internet with
unnecessary and unwanted email traffic.
