VB Compile Error Message Starting/Ending Excel 2003

Upon entering and exiting Excel 2003 I get an error
window that pops up with MICROSOFT VISUAL BASIC in the
blue bar at the top and a message reading "Compile error
in hidden module: xxx". Upon entering, the xxx reads
AutoExecNew. When closing, the xxx reads DistMon. I
click OK and Excel seems to run properly but it's obvious
something is wrong. I downloaded the latest Office
service pack and fixes, but that didn't help either. I
also get the same message entering/exiting Word.

Can anybody help me out?

I have a new machine (Office XP),just set-up yesterday
and it is doing the same thing. I'm curious to find out
what it is.

Doug,

My machine is several months old but my Office had to be
reloaded due to a virus. That's when the problem
started. I sent an email to Microsoft but who know how
long that will take to get an answer from. I've just now
got all of my options and customizations reset so I do
not want to have to re-install Office again. That would
probably fix it however. Keep me up to date if you run
across any fix.

Thanks,
Ricky Copeland

Doug,

I found a way to get rid of our problem. A guy sent me
the below URL that identifies the probem and gives an
easy to fix it. I chose Method 2 and Excel and Word now
work perfectly. If you can't get to the website via this
forum's limited space for URL's, email your actual email
address and I will forward to you what the gentlemen sent
me. Good luck!
