How have you been launching it? The correct way is to type CMD. If you are
doing this and it is still closing itself I'm not sure what the problem
could be.
This is just a command prompt by the way; it's not DOS.
Have you tried making a new shortcut? It may be that there is some odd configuration on the one you are using. Try that to eliminate that as a problem.

You know that, and I know that, but the command line box is confused when
you do a MEM command. =)
