XP Disappearing Command Prompt Window

Hi,
could somebody please help me.

When I try to run a DOS application it tries to start but
then just vanishes. I've tried opening command prompt
both via the start menu short cut and through start-run
cmd but still the command prompt window just flashes up
and vanishes again.

I've even tried a .bat file with pause at the beginning
of it, just to see if I can get DOS to stick around for a
bit, but with no luck.

Any ideas would be greatfully received.

I have the same problem, running Windows XP.

I don't know if there is a way to fix this yet; sorry for
the lack of knowledge, just letting you know you're not
the only one.

I've even tried a .bat file with pause at the beginning of it...

Pause goes at the end.
