I am running XP pack 2. When I try to run ipconfig, the DOS screen appears
for a brief second and then vanishes.

Can sombody advise?

Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt
In the Command Prompt window, type: IPCONFIG , and
hit enter.

Hi,

Open a command prompt first and run your ipconfig command from it.

One way to open a command prompt is to run cmd.exe from Start/Run.

start>run enter CMD and hit return

Type IPCONFIG in the DOS box

There is an icon in the programs/accessories folder (varies where) called
command prompt or similar you can use instead of start>run

It's shutting down the command prompt screen as soon as it's finished, so
there's no time to read the results.

What you should do is first open a command prompt window by going to Start |
Run, and typing CMD. You can then enter ipconfig (or other DOS commands)
there, and the window will stay open until you close it.
