OK, you old fart MS superstars - remember Duke Nukem? My son's facing
college in September, so I think he's trying to relive his childhood. He
asked me to get the old Duke game running. I allowed it to do its install
routine, double clicked the duke3d.exe file, and I get 2 seconds of a
DOS-like full screen box, which then vanishes with no error message. Do I
need to create some sort of pif file for this, so it gets special treatment?

See the following website for information about this game and Windows
XP: http://buildxp.deathmask.net/

Good luck

There is a games newsgroup. Might be a better place for this question.

Old DOS games tend to have problems with XP especially with sound
cards. I was somewhat able to get it to work under VDMSound. Or you
may want to look at DOSBox.
