I type "IPCONFIG" in the RUN box...

and,

I get the black DOS screen...but only for milliseconds; in other words, the
command does NOT execute completely and follow through.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Run it from the Command Prompt window (Start-Programs-Accessories)

You have to run ipconfig from a Command Prompt.

I do NOT have a command prompt window...seems it is NOT there!

How do I install it?

Thanks,

In this case, type CMD in the Run box and enter. In the Command Prompt
Window, type ipconfig and enter.

If you have XP, you have a Command Prompt window.
Start; programs; accessories; Command Prompt.
You can NOT execute that program from any windows
window other than the Command Prompt and see the
results of it or do anything else with it.

If you don't have XP, you're entirely in the wrong
newsgroup.

You don't install it.

Pick Start/Help type "command,"

then select "Using Command Prompt" for more information.

IPCONFIG does work from the Command Prompt.

Why does it NOT work from the "RUN" command?

It *does* work from the "Run" command. The window it's in just disappears
afterwards. That's why you have to open a AMD window first.

Yes, it does; it operates in command prompt mode. And
the window it's in closes immediately because it exits
and throws you back into windows.

Methinks we have some sort of troll here.

[Start]-button : 'Run...' :

Cmd /k IPConfig

[OK]-button

...

Type 'Exit' at Cmd-prompt when done.

Start ==> Run. Type "cmd" and hit return to open the command prompt
(without the quotes).
