Ipconfig does not work?

When I use the command prompt and I type ipconfig, I usually get on IP
address. Instead I get the following:

"Windows IP Configuration"

What does this mean.

This suggests that no network adapters are active in the machine. The
ipconfig command does not return an error, if TCP/IP is working but is not
bound to any network adapters.

Check your Network Properties, and if necessary, Device manager, to make
sure your network adapter is enabled, has a working device driver, and/or is
recognised by the system.

If you're lucky, it's just disabled - right-click and choose "Enable", to
active the Connection. If the NIC device isn't being recognised, you may
need to do some deeper hardware troubleshooting.

Note that if the network adapter is installed and active, but it isn't
connected to the network (eg the cable is detached), ipconfig would probably
show an APIPA address, eg 169.x.x.x.

Hope it helps,
Andrew

Do you now have or have you ever had any Symantec or Norton products
installed? If yes, can you recall that ipconfig worked until sometime
after these product were installed?

Other than this, all your Internet stuff seems to work okay (so your
network adapters are working, etc.) and this is the only problem you
know about?

Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider - Vonage, Comcast, Charter,
etc.)

* Download Malwarebyte free software, update it and have it do a full
scan.
