V92 modem

I read that V.92 modems with V.44 compression can
significant increase Web download speeds. I have a V.92
Lucent winmodem on my new Pavilion computer and have not
noticed any significant change in download speed from my
old computer which had a V.90 modem. How can I check if
this Lucent winmodem has V.44 compression?

When I recently did a windows update, I noticed it had
done a modem update to driver v.8.28. Is this supposed to
give me V.44 compression?

Hi Fran,
Does your ISP support v.92, if not your Modem will negotiate a slower speed.

Yes, my ISP says it supports V.92. However, I read on
ww.modem.com/v92info.html that some V.92 modems are
crippled, without V.44. Do you, or anyone else, know how I
can verify if my modem has V.44 compression?
