V5 Windows Update

Erwin

I tried v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com on my windows 2000
machine, it worked and Iwas happy with it. Now that v5 is
supposedly final, it dumps me back to v4!

I don't trust older version of anything to install over
newer ones, So I refuse to let v4 install back again. For
now I can enter v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com manually
and it works. However, I would like it to work with the
Windows Update under Tools.

So, how come it dumps me back to v4? Was v5 ever intended
for W2K? Will it ever go back to v5? Is there a way to
uninstall v5? Can I hack the URL that Windows Update
refers to under Tools?

As far as I know the initial release of V5 was never
intended for WIN2K clients. I would wait until MS
redirects the traffic.

Runing Win98, Win2K & WinXP, I have to agree with Paul.
All versions go to v4.wu.ms.com. Only winXP SP2 goes to v5.wu.ms.com by
default.

Besides, they both have the same updates available, only the interface
is different, more XP like.
