The directions are the same as the directions for Outlook Express.
Check to see if you ISP has directions.

We get that you like to use question marks, but the rest is not clear.

Yep.

You haven't included a valid server id.

Where you have coded 'smpt' should contain the server id,
usually in the form 'smtp.xxxxxxx.com' or similar, where
xxxxxx is your ISP's name.

Check your ISP (Internet service provider) documentation
for the server name or post back your ISP and we may be able
to identify it for you.

ps. I wouldn't be surprised if you had made a similar error
when setting out the inbound (POP) server either.

-- Julian, Thanks for your help. I do appreciate your time and knowledge. My
ISP is unfortunately Qwest. I am trying to use yahoo as the email address.
Here is my most recent error message (The host 'smpt.YAHOO.COM' could not be
found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.

IT I will be as helpful as you.

I'm not sure that the USA version of Yahoo is supported by Windows Mail.
You might need to use the following.. http://ypopsemail.com/
(I can't help you with it though since I have never used it.)

Unless you have a pressing need to persist with Yahoo I would recommend
you get a truly flexible Gmail account and migrate your emailing to it.
Google for Gmail. There are good reasons for doing so.

I have no formal IT qualifications and further the company I used to work
for
would never employ IT graduates since they were harder to retrain into the
"real world" computing environment.
