Can't receive mail

S

Steve

I am trying to set up Windows Mail for the first time. I use a broadband
provider for my outgoing mail, but want to use my email provider for my
inbound mail. (I have my own domain, hosted by Network Solutions.) I can send
mail okay. When I try to receive mail, I see the window that says 'Connecting
to (name of mail server)' and then a smaller window pops up called 'Windows
Security', and prompts me for my username and password for my mail server. I
put in the correct information (and as is in the account setting), but it
doesn't take. The error message I then get is:

Account: 'mail.macnicoll.com', Server: 'mail.macnicoll.com', Protocol:
POP3, Server Response: '-ERR authorization failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL):
No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Any suggestions?

Make sure you are using your complete email address as the
username part of the login.
Which antivirus are you using? Some of them are not compatible with
Windows Mail.
