Using the Windows XP operating system

Dear Computer People:

I have a Dell Optiplex GX1 computer. I used to have the
Windows 2000 operating system on my computer. When I had
the Windows 2000 operating system on my computer, my
Internet Explorer Version 6.0 browser worked perfectly.
Then I tried to upgrade my computer to the Windows XP
operating system, the professional edition. When I did
that my Internet Explorer browser does not work anymore.
I get onto the Internet for a couple of minutes then I get
an error menu that says:

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem.
It gives me the options to:
Send
Don't send

I click on the option to send.
Then a message appears on the Internet screen saying that
the Internet program will go down in 1 minute.

What is causing this problem?

What should I do about this problem?

Check out the updates on the Microsoft site to see if
there is one that will fix that problem. If that doesn't
help, you may have to put Win2000 back on your system. Is
your computer a package that Dell sold? ...Or was it
custom built? Some pkg deals can be very picky about what
OS's ru on them. For example, I used to own a HP pkg deal
with XP Home edition...had to format due to viruses, so I
tried installing other OS's...that computer did not like
Win2000 or any Linux OS. Go figure.

Scan for the blaster worm or other malware. If you had your system
connected to the internet before installing a firewall or enabling the
firewall in XP you are most likely infected. It can happen in minutes on an
unprotected connection.
