Using the Vista Product Key on Different machines

H

Hemant

Hi,
I have installed Vista on my old laptop. I now have a new laptop, can I
somehow transfer the old activation key to the new one?
I dont want to use the same key on both machines and am planning to donate
my old laptop but the only thing preventing me is this installation of Vista.

Is there a way to notify Microsoft of the change and somehow make transfer
possible?

If Vista came with your old laptop you can not use the same key to install
on another computer.

If you installed a "retail" version of Vista on the old laptop just remove
Vista from the old computer and then install it on the new computer. You
will likely have to activate by phone.
