When all goes wrong with a speadsheet and you run out of
undelete options, and you last saved 15 minutes ago, is it
possible/feasible to go to the autorecover file and use
that, assuming you set the option to save every ten
minutes for example.

Thanks for your help.

Paul,

I don't think so. The only utility provided by the auto recover
file is to restore corrupted workbooks.

If you set it to back up every 10 minutes, then the most you'll be able to go
back is 10 minutes.

But just in case you want to try:

(remember, if you close excel normally, then this autorecovery file is deleted.
So don't close excel when you're doing this.)

If you get lucky with your timing and the file still exists, you should be able
to go to that folder, copy it to a new location (it'll be named *.xar).

Then rename that copy to .xls and open it up to see if it's what you wanted.

And if you look using windows explorer, remember to show hidden files--else
you'll never even find it!

And you can find the name of that folder via:
tools|options|Save tab.
