Using the Add a Network Place Wizard

I have an FTP account and I added a network place using the Add a Network
Place Wizard and I was able to successfully create the network place. My
problem is that I cannot save on to it. I want a server that I can actually
save stuff on and myself and other people can access it. Ex: Joe is in Nevada
Dick is in Florida.
They both want to access the network place and save things to it, but it will
not let them. When they open a file that is on it, they only have the option
to read it but not edit and save it (read only).

Just curious why you say "not FTP" - when your FTP service should be able to
do this now ....it's probably just a matter of your setting the permissions
properly. If they won't, or can't, you might look into another provider,
such as www.site5.com ....they offer very nice, manageable FTP hosting
services for as little as $5/month USD (and a decent amount of space for
that price).

That said, there are myriad other things you could use - if you want to
create your own, check out FileZilla.

Hi
Are you talking about accessing your computer, or on line service.
If you are referring to your computer ftp server is usually the best way to
go.
If you are using (or want to use) hosting service you just need to store the
file in a Directory of your choice and provide links to it.
Most Hosting services are set for both http and ftp communication.
If needed both type of usage can be password protected.

Im guessing that my permission settings are the problem. I am not allowed to change them either. Do you know of any FREE ones?

No....that doesn't mean there aren't any, though. Try googling. Personally,
I'd be afraid of what I might find in the fine print.
