Using TB 1.5 with Hamster and Avast

I was using Norton AV 2005 but, due to several problem with it,
I have today installed Avast 4 free home adition.

I was collecting mails from my 4 pop3 accounts in Hamster
classic, from where, I was getting them into TB 1.5

I was sending mails from TB to Hamster from where I was sending
them using 1 of the four smtp accounts.

However, ever since I installed Avast, the communication in
between TB and Hamster has stopped.

The problem seems more to the side of Hamster which is saying
that it can't start "local pop3/ smtp servers" due to API bind,
meaning that the ports are busy.

However, nntp server is going perfectly well.

Hamster is still downloading mails from my 4 pop3 accounts but
is not sending those mails to TB. And TB is not able to send
mails to Hamster.

Any clue as to what Avast is doing differently from Norton?
