Using SATA riad drives without any OS

Hi there,

MB P4C800 deluxe.

Can I use my SATA mirror raid for storage only without any OS on it and have
the OS running from the standard SATA controller with a single SATA drive?

I have loaded the OS on the non raid SATA drive but cannot see the mirror
raid drive/s is this because I have to load the raid drivers on the OS on
the non raid SATA drive or can you not run SATA raid without the OS being on
the SATA raid drives?

the SATA raid drives.

Hi there,

My problem with this is that I'm being told I can in the Asus newsgroup so I
don't understand why some say yes and you say no it can't be done.

Thanks for your info will fire this back to the Asus newsgroup.

I have as I've said installed XP to the non raid SATA drive on the second
set of SATA controllers and in Device Manager is the Raid controller with
exclamation mark and as I'm only wanting to run mirror raid (1) I thought I
could do this.

I'll load the drivers and see what happens.

You cannot run SATA raid without the OS installed on
