Replacing a motherboard

Hi, I have a PC with windows XP (SP2) in RAID 0 on two hard drives. I am
replacing the motherboard with an identical, SATA RAID chipset motherboard.
Can I just set the BIOS to do SATA RAID and be done? It will find my OS?

You will need to do a reinstall of XP. Depending on whether
your current version of XP is retail or OEM Microsoft or OEM
branded, you may need to buy a new XP CD or license. The
mobo cannot be "identical" since you said it has SATA. XP
will not boot on the new board until you reinstall and
activate.

If it's either Retail or DSP OEM, no need to buy a new copy of XP.

If OEM, he should. Retail can be moved.

If the board is in fact identical, yes. otherwise, no
This assumes that the previus motherboard was using SATA
You can run into problems if the BIOS is not identical.

It's not being moved. The motherboard is being replaced on a computer.
That's called "upgrading the same computer".

No maybe about it. I've done it three times on two computers and it
activated on line without problems. Show me a motherboard that can act
as "another computer" without a power supply, monitor, keyboard, hard
drive, etc.
