screen is still visible to a person sitting at the remote machine?

While there is something called "shadowing" out there - in general - the
answer to your question as presented is *no*. Much more would have to be
known about the situation in which you are trying to do this, etc.

You could use UltraVNC or TightVNC to do something like this.
You could use Remote Assistance to do this.
