Using .POT files

I'm building a presentation that will display announcements via
projector at my church. I have downloaded several .pot templates
representing several categories of announcements (prayer requests, baby
showers, etc.) and am wanting to take one slide from each opened
template and place them together in a separate PPT show. Each slide in
the new show will have a diffent "template" applied to it.

I can copy the slide from the template, but when I paste it into a new
show, only the text appears, no formatting or color transfers. I looked
for "Paste Special", but it was not available during this copy/paste.

How can I easily copy a single slide from a template and place it in a
new show? Will I have to purchase a converter that takes the .pot file
and converts it to .jpgs?

If you don't have the version's 2002/2003 of PowerPoint, where you can do what
you want. If you don't, you might want to look here.
