using OST file under different login

Is there a way to acess an exchange mailbox when oflinbe
BUT logging in to windows XP under s seperate username.

The issue is that I need to log undera diffrent username
when out of the office becasue I cannot use the internet
(DSL/LAN) under the office log in.

So, I have a VIRGIN log in and have access to the OST
file (under C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.ost)
for outlook.

I do not need to have send/reoive functionaloity but just
need to be able to read my emails and acces teh pst file
(that's easy).

So is there a way to trick outlook into thiking that it
is in offline mode with a difenet profile?

many thnaks

No. The .ost file is tied to a particular mail profile, which is tied to a
specific Windows login.

Is there no way to use the ost file twice?
Or at the very least to treat the ost file like a pst
file for viewing in a diferent profile/login?
Many thanks

No means no. If you want a pst file, you'll need to create it and export to
it.

Another question - why do you need to use a different login? What happens
when you try to access the Internet via another LAN connection while using
your cached domain credentials to log into the domain?

Because the wifi and dsl lan capabilities on my laptop
wont work with with office log in.

the only work aroudn that I can think of woudl be to
create a macro that automaticaly copies the contents of
my mailbox with all sub folders to a pst file upon exit
(or when called)

Any idea how to do that?

If you can properly copy the profile to the other logon, it might work.
You'll need the ost in a location both profiles can access (or give your
second profile permissions to access the other user's folders).

Just copy the PST. That will copy all your folders and subfolders.

Won't work with an OST, tho. I'd still look further into resolving whatever
network difficulties occur when using the main domain profile on another
network....it's the source of the problem.
