is there a way to add an autotext entry to 200 users normal.dot without
overwriting their existing file?

Thanks in advance

The way to distribute autotext to others does _not_ involve doing anything
with Normal.dot.

Make and save a new blank template with a name like CompanyAutoText.dot. Use
the Organizer (from Tools > Templates & Add-Ins > Organizer) to copy the new
entries from your Normal.dot to CompanyAutoText.dot.

Then send CompanyAutoText.dot to the other users, with instructions to save
it in the Word startup folder -- by default that's
%appdata%\Microsoft\Word\Startup although it could have been changed in the
Tools > Options > File Locations dialog.

All AutoText entries (and macros, too) in templates stored in that location
are automatically available in all open documents, the same as those in
Normal.dot.
