I have Windows XP on my computer. What I was wondering is
if I can use the same disk to install it on my other
computer or do I have to buy a seperate disk for each pc
in our home?

Your license to use Windows XP permits you to
install one copy of Windows XP on one computer.
A second installation of Windows XP, installed on
another computer, will require another license.

In order to successfully activate Windows XP for the second
installation, you'll need to purchase a second license (Product Key).
The Windows XP license agreement only permits one installation
of Windows XP on one computer with each Product Key.

Also, open XP's "Help and Support" and type: EULA
and click on "Questions and Answers about the
End-User License Agreement".

You need a seperate *license* for each system you want XP on. You *can* buy
licenses without disks and use the same DISK for each one, they'll all just
have different serial#'s used on the install. (Just keep track of which is
on which.)

Greetings --

Does your local department of motor vehicles allow you to drive
two cars on a single set of license plates? So why would you get the
idea that software manufacturers would sell their product licenses any
differently? In real life, it doesn't matter whether the product
being purchased is a physical item, a service, or a software license -
if all you buy is one, one is all you get.

As it has *always* been with *all* Microsoft operating systems,
it's necessary (to be in compliance with both the EULA and copyright
laws, if not technically) to purchase one WinXP license for each
computer on which it is installed. The only way in which WinXP
licensing differs from that of earlier versions of Windows is that
Microsoft has finally added a copy protection and anti-theft
mechanism, Product Activation, to prevent (or at least make more
difficult) the sort of multiple installations you're asking about.

You underestimate the power that wishful thinking exerts over common sense!

But if you damage the CD your stick. How much cheaper (if that is even
possible) is it to buy just a single license. I know you can get volume
licenses (corporate user minimum of 5) but never heard of having the ability
to starting off with just a single license purchase.

Take the plates off the first vehicle - stick them on the second.

Seriously software manufactures sometimes provide a facility that if you buy
two or more licenses you end up paying less per P.C. How does the LTSA do
this? Oops - they do for diesels when buying RUC's.
