Using multiple instances of Outlook

Hi
I'm in the process of migrating to Windows 7, but I still use Vista from
time to time just to make sure I don't loose anything. Don't want to upgrade
my current Vista to Win7 because there is too much junk and I want a clean
installation.

So I have Windows Vista and Windows 7 loaded with Outlook installed on both
of them. They both point to the same pst file. Email accounts are
configured to leave the messages on the pop3 server for 2 days as I travel
with my laptop and still need access to latest incoming emails.

Anyway, the problem that I have is if I'm working in Vista and Outlook has
downloaded all the latest messages, if I go into Windows 7, Outlook downloads
all those messages again, causing duplicates in my mailbox. Is there any way
to prevent this or to let Outlook recognize that those messages are already
downloaded?

No, that is not possible unless you move the already downloaded items to
another folder on the POP3 server since the other Outlook is not aware what
has been downloaded already by another instance.
FWIW; support for this is planned to be added to Outlook 2010.
