Using MS 'Web Accessories' with IE6

I use Internet Explorer 6 with WinXP.

I am sure that in the past I have used Microsoft's Web
Accessories for IE5 on my Internet Exporer 6. I prefer Web
Accessories to things like Google ToolBar.

I want to instal Web Accessories again but this time it won't work.

I got the download from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/previous/webaccess/ie5wa.asp
If I press the Quick Search on IE button I see entries for Google
and Google Groups.

But when I type "r computer" it does not search Google groups for
"computer".

Is there something else which I need to do to enable this?

No. You cannot use the Web Accessories for IE 5.x in IE 6.x.

Not true. You can use IE5 web accessories with IE6. I run XP Pro 320 megs of
ram, 700 MHz Celeron processor, and they work fine for me. I don't remember
where I downloaded it at, I found a link in this newsgroup for it and got
it. Maybe someone can point Peter in the right direction? HTH

Very interesting. Is that on a clean install of XP or an upgraded
version?

You have to allow AutoSearch for that to work.
(In Options, Advanced tab check something _other than_
Do not search from the Address bar
)

I'm not sure but I would expect that you could even use the Quick Search.exe
Try it... feature (under its Edit dialog) even without ensuring that
AutoSearch was active. Try it? ;)

Good luck

Unfortunately this does not solve the problem for me.

I still cab't get Web Accessories to search from the address bar.
