using microsoft XP-new computer and new program

why does it keep asking me to activate-I have already
done this-it allows me into 'word' or 'ppt' but I cannot
read or manipulate what is there-why?

If you're not being allowed work with or otherwise alter word and PowerPoint
files, chances are, you are being asked to activate MS-Office which appears
to be installed on your system with XP. Office is a separate application
and requires separate activation.
