in Japanese into the subject line. I have already enabled Japanese language
settings.

You need to give us more information: what version of Outlook, what kind
of setup (Exchange Server, POP/SMTP, IMAP), PST file format.

Basically you need to run Outlook in Unicode mode to support multibyte
languages such as Japanese.

know how to check the IMAP, or the PST file format. If you need this info.
could you tell me where to go to get this info for you, so that you can help

Hi there Pat Willener
Your suggestion helped a lot. I can now use japanese in the subject line of
emails.
I changed two settings on windows xp home edition.
1) start, control panel, date time language and regional options, regional
and language options, advanced, language for non-unicode programs, set to
Japanese.
2) Went to Microsoft office outlook 2003, tools, options, mail format,
international options, encoding options preferred, encoding for outgoing
messegers, and chose the option "Unicode (UTF-8)".

After that I went to the office outlook 2003 and noticed that subjects
written in Japanese were displayed correctly in Japanese. Also tested sending
a new email with Japanese written into the subject line and it all went
through properly with the Japanese displaying properly.
Thanks for your help

Which Version of Outlook?
When you try to type Japanese on subject line, what happens?
Can you turn on IME in Japanese mode?
Can you type Japanese on body part?

Anyway, Can you post more detailed info?
