using contacts to send email

Hi! I recently bought a new laptop and Outlook 2007. I transfered my
settings from my old computer to the new one. But, when I hit the "To"
button to address an email, my contact list is not there. I have not been
able to figure out how to get my contacts to show up when I want to send an
email and I'm going crazy - any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did you configure your contacts to show as an Outlook Address Book? I'm not
sure how to do it in Outlook 2007, but earlier versions what you do is
right-click on the Contacts folder, scroll to properties, click on the
Outlook Address Book tab, and check the box that says to show the folder as
an email address book.

Thx for your quick reply! What you described is exactly what I tried, as
explained in the Help section but I cannot highlight the contacts to select
it and I don't know why. I'm hoping there's something simple I'm missing!

I have a similar problem, except that I cannot change the "Show this
folder as an e-mail address book" check box because it s grayed out.
Any ideas what is wrong?

No need to post multiple times.

Yes you did because you quoted it. Try reading the messages you quote.

Following the online help tutorial all the way to the last period on the page
and none of this worked. I have the exact same symptoms and even managed to
"import" the problem from my XP machine to my W7 machine using the "file
transfer wizard." I don't think this problem is just a matter of people not
following instructions. The instructions run out just when you think you are
getting somewhere.

Your message is a response to a post that is well over a year old and a thread
that was started in January 2008! You didn't respond to the proper message in
the thread, you responded to the tail-end, which didn't reference your problem
at all, so you included no relevant context. Moreover, you didn't answer the
questions we asked the original poster. That person decided not to answer
them, either.

If the advice Kathleen gave to original poster didn't work, then you'll need
to recreate your mail profile manually. See this:

Yes, I picked the most relevant topic I could find and I read through and
added on at the end. Sorry. I've only spent the entire day creating new
profiles, uninstalling, reinstalling, and I am still right where I started.
If there were an answer in any of these posts that worked for me I would not
have bothered you. I am giving up on this for today as I suspect I am going
to have to format my hard drive and start from scratch. Thanks for the
friendly helpful attitude. You must work for MS. Why do they let kids like
you play on the computer?
